It Ain't Easy. It's Necessary.

“BUILDING MY TRIBE is what I mean when I speak about ‘village building’. In the truest sense, we must bolster our communities with like-minded neighbors, family and friends. We are in a space where we can build the village that we want and need. We have the skill. We have the talent. We have the resources. The village needs you. Answer the call.”
It is always difficult to share events past, present and future. But I try to stay in the now. And right now, I need to share the events that we have had, what I'm doing today and what is ahead.
Had the pleasure of meeting some dynamic community members at this month's 'What Do We Do?' at Black Dot Cultural Center in Lithonia. If you aren't familiar, it is a casual networking event that invites the community to share what it is that 'U Do' and in turn we discuss how we can help you get what you need. This group included financial planners, real estate professionals, photographer and more. We were even lucky enough to meet a 17 year old certified nursing student who is also a senior in high school! (Our future is bright!)
These events always inspire me. There is never a time that I don't leave ready to further connect and strategize to create this village I'm building. We have such talent here in our community and my goal is to make the connections necessary for growth. The most telling part of it all is that when we ask what people need, they almost always say 'community'. A universal need that is necessary to further cultivate and grow. I hope that you can join us for our next 'What Do We Do?' at Black Dot where we join forces with the Kappa Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on Saturday, June 21st from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm in Lithonia at Black Dot Cultural Center.
This week, we are scheduled to have The Guardians Cup pickup youth soccer on Saturday, June 14th from noon to 2 pm at Pittsburgh Yards (352 University Ave, Atlanta). Soccer? Yes, soccer. Stay tuned for more on how we are using soccer to connect community.
