While listening to NPR this morning, I heard an unfairly brief story about a sculptor who was being featured on U.S. stamps in the U.S. Postal Service's Black Heritage Series. I had to find out more and was so excited to explore a few stories in Edmonia "Wildfire" Lewis's universe.
Check out this short digital comic about her life that will introduce "Wildfire" to all ages.
"This comic is part of a series Drawn to Art: Ten Tales of Inspiring Women Artists that illuminates the stories of ten women artists in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Inspired by graphic novels, these short takes on artists’ lives were each drawn by a woman student-illustrator from the Ringling College of Art and Design."
Why am I sharing?
I think #comics can communicate quickly and effectively. So when its about a black woman sculptor that I didn't know about, I want to share then we all can know about her.
We need to know about her to know about #thepossibilities
Also, seems like everyone needs a story about a spirit called #Wildfire in your life.
Show them who U are.
